Via Gallegos (‘25) is leaving high school with a lot of great memories and meaningful connections.
Via plans to attend Victoria James Cosmetology School in Loveland. She hopes to specialize in hair while also learning about makeup, nails, and skincare. During her schooling, she will live with her parents to work and save money.
Her passion for hair stems from her childhood experimenting with her toys by cutting her Barbie’s hair. She also recognized her creative style through her makeup and hair.
“I love doing makeup, and I love having my nails done. And I thought it’d be cool to help people feel the way I feel when I get my hair done, or my nails, or my makeup done.”
Via was involved in a plethora of activities throughout high school, including cheer, color guard, musical theatre, and choir. These things have kept her incredibly busy. While scared to leave behind those activities, she is also excited to try new things and get involved in new ways.
Cheerleading is a big accomplishment for Via. She is proud of her improvements both in her skills and in opening up to more people. Via was in dance growing up but unfortunately stopped due to COVID. However, upon entering high school, she was able to join cheer and has loved being a part of it.
Some of Via’s favorite memories include performing in the musical her junior year. She enjoyed the nights of performing and bonding with cast members. She is thankful to the people who helped her come out of her shell.
Her advice to incoming freshmen would be to get involved and try everything you can.
“Try everything. If one thing doesn’t work out for you, go find another thing to do. Because I feel like it’s just super important to make the best out of your high school career, and just try to learn and make new friends.”
Via appreciates her mom’s support and views her as a mentor. She values how her mom encouraged her to get involved. She also appreciates her friends who have helped her throughout high school.
