Government teacher Erin Warren

Teacher Features: Mrs. Warren

Take a look into Mrs. Warren's life and her passion for teaching high schoolers.

If there’s any teacher you can joke around with while also learning how the world works, it’s government teacher, Mrs. Erin Warren.

Mrs. Warren’s childhood home was surrounded by orange groves that her father owned and cared for. She would receive “hand-me-down” shoes from her friends because she could not afford them.

“I could afford regular shoes but not the newest, greatest shoes,” Mrs. Warren commented.

Later in her junior year of high school, her dad sold the grove and ended up making a lot of money.

“It was kinda weird going from kinda poor to suddenly rich in my last year of high school,” Ms. Warren said.

Mrs. Warren moved on to receive her degree in Political Science at the University of North Florida because of her love for government and politics.

Right now, she is working for her masters degree at the University of Colorado.

Mrs. Warren was originally a substitute teacher here at Mead and later became a teacher. She substituted for Mrs. Sandoval, a social studies teacher, when she had her baby. When Mrs. Warren left she thought she would never go back to teaching. She loved to school so much that she decided to continue as a teacher at Mead.

“I love high schoolers. I love them. They’re funny and engaging and they have a lot of hope. They are also very real and honest with you, they don’t put on a lot of fakeness. Oh I just love this age. I absolutely love high school.”

In the first three years as a teacher at Mead, she taught English 12 because she loved teaching seniors and the subject. She then moved on to pursue her passion in American government, AP American government, and E-Credit.

Outside of school, Mrs. Warren is a very busy mother and student. She has three kids, one in elementary, one in middle school, and one in high school.  Her husband recently received open heart surgery and is currently recovering from that.

“My life looks like a lot of grading, driving kids back and forth to different places, taking care of my husband, and I’m also getting my masters degree through CU so it’s a lot of homework for that.”

“I have a lot of energy, I can be very type A, I like things a certain way, and I like to laugh,” is how Mrs. Warren described her personality.

Mrs. Warren has enjoyed her years of teaching here so far, and both her and her students are looking forward to the upcoming years.
