Gina Bare

Tyler Bare (’21) describes cross country as being “[his] home”.

Where are they going?: Tyler Bare

Welcome to The Mav’s Senior Tradition where we highlight our current seniors and discuss where they are headed to.

Tyler Bare (‘21), the self described “guy who did the announcements” and cross country team captain, is leaving Colorado and heading to Northern Arizona University next year. He plans on studying environment and sustainability studies for at least four years with the hope that he “can do anything that will help out the world… for those who are about to inherit it after us, set up the next generations for success”.

He’s hoping to be exposed to multiple careers during his time at NAU and will make his career decisions from there. Bare received the Founders Blue Tuition Scholarship for $24,000 and is applying for the Bright Futures scholarship as well.

Bare’s favorite memories from high school occurred during his sophomore year when “[he] was adopted by a big group of seniors.” He said, “They were a big part of my high school experience… I always want to pass on the same feelings they gave me to other people.”

His favorite teachers were Mr. Reynolds and Ms. Ervin.

“Ms. Ervins’s a wonderful, wonderful person, teacher, [and] role model,” he said. “She helped me find where I needed to be… I owe her a lot.”

Bare said that Mr. Reynolds is “more than a teacher… He shares a very real view of the world, which I value.”

The track and cross country teams are also very important to him. “That’s my home,” he said.

His advice to underclassmen is to join everything: music, sports, clubs, etc. “You can only regret not doing it. If you do something and you don’t like it? Cool, you don’t ever have to do it again. [But] That’s how I met my people and how you’ll meet yours.”

He also said, “It gets better. I promise.”

We will miss seeing Tyler around the school and at events, but we know he’ll blow NAU away.
