Mateo’s ultimate goal is to use his degree and expertise to start his own business.

Where are they going?: Mateo Gonzaga

Welcome to The Mav’s Senior Tradition where we highlight our current seniors and discuss where they are headed to

Mateo Gonzaga (‘23) is planning to attend Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California to major in business management and entrepreneurship. He hopes to travel to places like Europe and Asia, meet new people, and start his own business.

He says his favorite high school memory was practicing with the soccer team during the pre-season.

“Being with the coach and the players when the sun was coming up over the field [was] crazy,” he said.

His favorite teacher at Mead is Mr. Ryan Lamm, the new economics teacher. Mateo said he feels he can relate a lot to Mr. Lamm. He said, “I can tell him anything, so he doesn’t feel like my teacher. He just feels like a very old friend.”

The advice he gives students is to figure out who you want to spend your time doing and focus. He encouraged everyone to be kind to their peers.

Mateo said throughout high school he’s been very grateful for his close group of friends. They “have [his] back all the time”.

Mead wishes Mateo luck on his future endeavors and will long remember his charisma and impact as a Mead Maverick.
