Where are they going?; Jarrett Mastriona

Jarrett Mastriona enlists in the U.S Army

The new year is approaching fast, which means we’ll have to say farewell to the graduating class of 2018. While some take the traditional college route, there are those that stand out from the rest of the crowd, like Jarrett Mastriona, who recently enlisted into the U.S. Army.

When asked why Mastriona chose to take this direction he says, “I have dreamed of doing this since I was twelve, and I feel honored to be able to serve my country, while doing what I love”.

It’s an honor to have someone that’s extremely passionate about this profession to serve our country.

Immediately after graduation Mastriona will attend basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Here he will learn the fundamentals of being a soldier in the United States Army,  and after completing basic, he will proceed to attend airborne school.

Jarrett’s military occupational speciality is 11x option 4 infantry recruit; he’ll be a paratrooper. He claims that this job title includes tasks such as, “traveling overseas to fight enemy insurgencies that pose a threat to the United States.” An example of this type of threat is the 9/11 attack in New York City.

Students like Jarrett Mastriona represent MHS in such a positive, and inspiring way.
