Mead Softball has a game on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.

The softball season started off with fluctuating victories and losses against opponents such as Elizabeth and Holy Family. There were multiple strong 5A schools in the beginning season mix including Smoky Hill, Chaparral, and Rocky Mountain in their Fort Collins FAN tournament.

Beginning with the game against Silver Creek, Mead Softball has been consistent with winning their games, showing how much their growing team strength has helped in increasing their win rate to 71%.

In the Berthoud Invite tournament the girls went 4-0, beating highly ranked teams in 4A (Riverdale Ridge and Conifer) as well as teams in 3A.

Coach Macaluso said, “Even though this is a tough week, I am one hundred percent certain about the work we have put in.”

Macaluso continued, “It’s all about believing in ourselves and trusting our skills. In regards to the rest of the season and forward progress, I know we will come out stronger no matter the outcome.”

Emily Sauvageau (‘22) has a great outlook on the rest of the season. She said, “Everyone on the team has done a much better job contributing to our games and steadily improving as the weeks go by. We trust the person next to us and it shows when we come out on the field and play as a family. I think we have a good chance to go deep in state and I’m excited to see how far we make it.”

This week is one of the biggest weeks for the girls as they compete against some of their toughest opponents. Come support the team this week as they take on Windsor this Tuesday at home at 4 p.m. and Erie this Thursday at the recreation center at 7 p.m.
