Happy Birthday (poem)
I wish it was more than a happy birthday
I wish we could be more
I want to get excited when we see each other
I want to know more than just your birthday
What did you wish for?
I wish that I was yours and you were mine
Not in the suffocating way
Just simple love
the soft
sweet
love
no butterflies, no nerves
just simple love
Happy birthday is all I can say
To your face at least
Someday I’ll be able to say the truth
How I love your eyes
Your gentle,
pure smile
The messy mop that sits on your head
The way I lose my breath for a second when you come in my line of vision
Nothing noticeable enough for others to know
But I notice it
I wish it was more than a happy birthday
