Mead Soccer JV and Varsity team went to a Rapids Game for a bonding trip.

Mead High School Varsity Soccer has had a terrific start to the season this year, with 10-4 wins so far into the season. The team also beat Windsor for the first time in program history this year with the score of 6-1. The Mead High School soccer team is now rated 37th in the state of Colorado.

Every year, Meads athletic teams strive to improve in every way, and the men’s soccer team appears to be doing particularly well.

Soccer team member Mateo Gonzaga (‘23) said, “We play for something bigger than ourselves, and knowing where this program has come from, we push everyday to set new records and reach new milestones.” Following what Gonzaga (‘23) said, his teammate Brody Foote (‘23) said “a lot of summer training and intentional practices to acknowledge we’re in this together and not for individual success” are crucial to the growth the team has experienced.

Not only having meetings and countless practices helped the team grow but having goals and values have been essential to this success. As Gonzaga (‘23) said, “[the] top three things we value as a team are staying positive on the field, playing together, and remembering we have each other’s backs on and off the field.”

Ian Faussett (‘23) said some of the team’s biggest values are to “stay together and be positive with each other, work as hard as we can and do our best out on the field”. Faussett (‘23) is excited for what the team will accomplish this season.

The Mead Soccer team is off to a wonderful start; we are thrilled to see what these young men are capable of and wish them much further success.
