Love You Forever children’s book had a great impact on me (Commentary)
A 2016 study published in the Journal of Neuroscience shows that mother-daughter relationships are the strongest among parent-child relationships
“A mother held her new baby and very slowly rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And while she held him, she sang:
“I’ll love you forever,/ I’ll like you for always,/ As long as I’m living/ My baby you’ll be.”— Love You Forever by Robert Muncsh.
I remember my mother reading these words to me as a child. I remember sitting in bed in my pajamas and having my mom repeat this story to me over and over again.
I’ve loved this book since I was a kid, and I will continue to love this book forever. My mom would read me this, and all I could picture was us growing up just like the book.
Growing up, Love You Forever and the memories attached have taught me to keep my mother close to me. My mom has been my number one supporter all throughout life and has helped me overcome any challenges that are thrown my way. This book has helped my mom and I have a tight bond— it’s shown us what growing up with a close mother-child connection can look like. Growing up is challenging, and this book has shown me what aspects of growing up can look like with family.
This book is very emotional and powerful. It helped my perspective on life by teaching me new lessons. Though Love You Forever is made for children, it has helped my viewpoint on life by making me feel loved and building a tighter bond with my mom.
Love You Forever has taught me the importance of love. The world changes and things get hard, but this book has taught me how crucial it is to embrace healthy love for one another, especially when it comes to family. We grow up, as humans do, but love is always there no matter the age.
The last lines repeat the first: “I’ll love you forever,/ I’ll like you for always,/ As long as I’m living/ My baby you’ll be”. Though, in the beginning of the book, it starts with the mother holding her baby, the story ends with the now grown man singing this song to his new baby. This shows how life evolves and we grow to love others too.
