The Purple Sea of Embers (poem)
In the quiet winter snow
swimming
in the purple sea of sky
burns the golden embers
alongside the moon
Sitting here
looking up
seeing
more and more
of these embers
more and more of their
flames
I could watch
for minutes
that turn into hours
Quaking aspen trees frame
this beautiful canvas
the snow silent
and peaceful on the ground
To think
that the one who created
the stars
is the same one
that breathed
life into me
It makes you realize
how in this beautiful possibility
of the world
you will be ok
None of those things
really matter
Unless
you sit back
and be engulfed
by the burning beautiful
flame
From all those
embers
glistening bright
