Hannah Kearns (‘23) plans to continue her education in Spain.

Where are they going?: Hannah Kearns

Welcome to The Mav’s Senior Tradition where we highlight our current seniors and discuss where they are headed

After high school, Hannah Kearns (‘23) plans to attend Suffolk University in Madrid, Spain. She is interested in international relationships, international affairs, or Spanish.

While Hannah’s major is undeclared, she has an idea of her future career goals. She said she may go into education.

“I love to teach specially with language… something that really speaks to me is teaching English in a Spanish speaking country,” she shared.

During Hannah’s time at MHS she has been involved with school spirit. Some of her favorite memories have been related to her Maverick spirit.

“I love going to all the games and cheering until I can’t breathe,” she said.

She will also cherish memories she made through playing on the Girls Soccer team — “getting the opportunity to play varsity was great”.

Hannah has challenged herself academically throughout the last four years. Between all of her classes, she said her favorite has always been Spanish. “I love being able to communicate in a different language ,” she said.

Hannah has been able to meet great mentors at Mead. She said social studies teacher Mr. Steve Parsons has been her favorite teacher — “he taught [her] a lot about being an understanding person and a very caring individual”. She looked back on the easy-flowing conversations she’s had with Parsons about anything and everything.

As Hannah has gotten older she’s grown and changed. She said where she used to be more emotional, she’s now focused on being kind and less worried about perceptions others have of her.

Hannah advises her peers to worry about what they want to do in the present moment rather than “figuring out what you want in five or ten years, because that can always change”.

“Be more rooted in who you are, and don’t be too panicked to figure who that is,” she added.

We wish Hannah the best of luck in this new adventure.
