SVVSD Students are thrilled for the third annual Unified Day of Champions
Day of Champions will be held Monday, May 22
St. Vrain will be hosting its third annual Unified Day of Champions on Monday, May 22.
Unified sports is a unique way to connect students with and without disabilities. Unified sports helps students to have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities such as basketball, bowling, track, and more.
In past years, approximately 135 unified athletes from the district’s eight high school’s and Main Street School have participated.
According to St. Vrain Valley School District, last year’s events consisted of ten different stations including: “outdoor bowling, cornhole/shuffle board, beach ball, tennis, basketball, kickball, 50 meter run, percussion, a dunk tank (where students can dunk their school principal), and a break station.”
Ms. Amber Vanzant said, “Students’ favorite thing is the dunk tank. Mr. Eisentrager and Dr. Young will be there and the kids love dunking them.”
Unified athlete Jackson Baumgardner (‘23) said, “I’m most excited for the band on Monday.”
Jan Lynn Fraser (‘23), another Unified athlete, said, “I’m most excited to see my friends and have fun.”
Families and friends are encouraged to attend the event on Monday to cheer on students.
Your donation will support the student journalists of Mead High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
