From Nov. 9-11, The MHS theater department performs “The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza”, a hilarious story of two narrators trying to unpack the complex history of Greek Mythology.
Originally a book by Don Zolidis, “The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza” creates a theatrical adaptation brought to the stage of MHS. Two narrators, played by Micheal Reeder (‘24) and Kensi Fairley (‘24), bring the ancient history of Greek Mythology to life with puns, cross-dressing, and audience participation.
After countless hours of rehearsal, costume fittings, and perfecting every detail to make their performance memorable, the talented cast has folded two months’ worth of dedication into two and a half hours of performance time.
Taylor Morris (‘25) playing Pandora from Pandora’s Box and Helen from Helena Troy said, “The show is absolutely hilarious. I love all the jokes.”
Reeder, known as Narrator two, wants the audience to look out for the pop culture references throughout the show even if they’re a little dated.
Four year MHS theater veteran Asia Park (’24) shared mutual excitement for the play. “My favorite part for prepping for the show is being able to see people figure out how to portray their characters and doing it myself,” she said. “Even when you’re not on stage – there’s always something that needs to be done.”
“My favorite part is the freedom Ms. Mackey gives us with our characters and how random we get to be with our acting,” said Morris.
Behind the scenes of The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza, stage tech meticulously sets the scene for the audience. Props are made, microphones are taped on, and volume is adjusted to ensure actors are delivering their lines perfectly. Stage Manager Alexia Deba (‘26) said the hardest part of prepping for the show was trying to fit everything into a limited time frame.
“It’s difficult to get it the way we’d all like before opening night,” she said.
MHS Theater is excited to announce its fall showing for the 2023-24 school year and perform for the community.
