Staff and students have recently reported a foul odor seeming to stem from inside the lower G wing classrooms. According to head custodian Sasha Coleman, the stench is due to a clogged acid trap. The acid trap’s usual function is to clean out the plumbing after use- but due to the clog, rather than moving through, it has been pushed back through the drains, causing the smell. Students and faculty conducting class in the halls have been advised not to turn on sinks or use the nearest bathroom, as this only makes the problem worse.
Admin has done their best to handle the issue by opening doors and windows in order to air out the wing (of course with a staff member on hand to guard the area), but the pressured air conditioning that the building circulates only made the smell travel as far as upper D wing.
“The plumber came yesterday, but sadly there was nothing that he could do, so we had to contract out the issue and have a company come out here,” Coleman stated.
The contracting company that is working with admin will be in and out as much as necessary, trying their best to resolve the issue by end of week.
