The Mavericks’ senior night softball game was a memorable one. Leaving a team they had been on for the last four years was a touching moment for all of the players and coaches. The girls left everything they had on the field and fought hard that night. Mead showed out and got a shutout win.
Before the Mavericks took on the Longmont Trojans, Adisyn Rademacher (‘25), Olivia Bordash (‘25), Maddilyn Bomareto (‘25), Nikki Ward (‘25), Sierra Hale (‘25), and Anya Burger (‘25) received their senior spotlights. Each of the girls chose a teammate or a coach to read their speech highlighting their gratitude towards teammates, coaches, and family members.
After an emotional ceremony, Mead came out strong causing three outs quickly in the top of the first, the momentum carried into the bottom of the first inning putting Mead up 6-0 before getting all three outs.
Strong pitches by Maddilyn Bomareto (‘25) led to yet another scoreless inning for Longmont. Mead scored right off the bat, no pun intended, advancing the score to 7-0. At the end of the second inning, the Mavericks were up 9-0.
Mead’s defense stayed strong and Adisyn Rademacher (‘25) gave the Mavericks another point before they got three outs. The score was 10-0 at the end of the third inning.
More outstanding pitches by Maddilyn Bomareto (‘25) caused a quick end to the top of the fourth inning. The Mavericks got three more runs to put them up 13-0. Due to the Mavericks being up by so much, they ended the game early due to the mercy rule.
Head coach Amanda Macaluso is going to miss the senior class, “[I love] their energy and character. They make practices fun. Especially Nikki Ward and Adisyn Rademacher, they make things lively and they keep things really competitive,”
Coach Macaluso stated, “Just work hard, [and] roll with the punches. Sometimes life is tough, and not fair, but all of the work that they’ve put in tells me they’re prepared and ready for it.”
