Matthew Angelo (‘25) recently signed to the University of Jamestown, where he will not only continue his basketball career, but study business.
He is proud of just being able to play for Mead basketball and make memories in the process. “[I love] being able to compete with Mead basketball and with all my friends,” he said.
Knowing that most people don’t get the opportunity to play sports at the collegiate level makes Angelo more eager. He said, “I’m very excited, it’s a blessing that I have the opportunity to play basketball over at Jamestown.”
Angelo moved to Colorado from Texas during the beginning of his sophomore year of high school. He has been playing basketball since he was eight years old and has been playing for two years at Mead. He has been a two year varsity player and has played in back-to-back elite eight games in the playoffs.
Angelo has had many people that have been impactful in his life, and also supporting him through basketball. He said, “So many people [have supported me], Coach Reese [and] my parents are another. Just everybody that’s helped me get to this point now is definitely impactful.”
Working hard is the key to playing basketball according to Angelo (‘25). He said, “As long as you keep working hard that’s all you really need, you have four years left in your high school career.”
