Dr. Brian Young has accepted an offer as Executive Director in St. Vrain Valley Schools’ Office of Human Resources beginning the 2025-2026 school year.
As principal of Mead High School for the last four years, this is a move Dr. Young said he did not plan on making. However, when the opportunity presented itself, he knew it was the right choice for him to continue growing in his career.
His new position will entail roles like supporting principals in the district, helping to recruit high-quality staff, evaluating Human Resources processes, assisting with resource allocation, and proposing budget suggestions.
Dr. Young is both nervous and excited.
“In my family, we call it ‘nervous-cited’,” he said.
This will be the first time in 24 years that Dr. Young has not been in a school, surrounded by students.
“It’ll be different”, he added.
Dr. Young considers this move a growing opportunity, but said that his new position does not erase his connection with the past.
“There’s a lot that I’m proud of at Mead High School. I think first and foremost, is just being a part of this amazing school culture where our kids take care of each other, and our staff are super supportive of the kids,” he said.
Mr. Young is proud to share that Mead High not only has a well-developed community but has also seen an increase in graduation rates and student enrollment in AP and college-level classes.
“I’m so grateful for my time here, and I will always be a Mead Maverick. I’ll cherish all the memories that we have here,” he said.
According to the email Dr. Young sent families informing them of his acceptance of his new role in the district, the hiring process will begin immediately. Community members can expect surveys to be sent out and even opportunities to be on the interview committee when the time comes.
