In October of 2023, I broke my camera on my phone. I never took any pictures so it wasn’t a big deal, but about two months later (when I took this photo), I actually started to see how many things I wasn’t capturing.
-
For some reason it took breaking my camera to be able to see the moments I wanted to capture with it. I was always so busy trying to convince myself that I was living in the moment that I never saw what was right in front of me.
-
I didn’t have to go on an extravagant expedition to see something worth capturing- it was right in front of me the whole time. I took this picture in front of the tennis courts.
-
Taking pictures gave me the chance to do something creative, something more than just whatever task the day handed me.
-
Not all of them were good, but every single one of them was a moment I put effort into capturing. That alone made them fulfilling.
-
Each picture is a time where I closed myself off from anything that was bothering me and just admired what I was seeing for a few seconds.
-
That’s something more people should do. Everyone is always so focused on going from point A to point B that they miss the journey in between.
-
That journey is all that really matters. Everyone has the same point A and the same point B in the end.
-
So live a little. Take some time enjoying the scenery. Life is much more beautiful that way.
