A brief update on construction of the new math and science wing

We walk by it almost every day, so how’s it going?

As many Mead High School students are aware, construction has been going on around the school since summer. Whether or not the finishing date has changed is still unknown, but the pace of the process has been going quicker than expected. Mrs. York said, “to me, the construction is going up quite quickly and the original date has changed.” Mr. Vallette says otherwise. “The official date, August 2018 is still the same.” Regardless, things appear to be going well.

Mrs. York, the school librarian, and Mr. Vallette, one of the administrators, both explained how they felt the construction would improve our school when interviewed this week. Both said that it would alleviate the crowding and allow many teachers who don’t have their own room to have their own room.

Mead High school started off as a small school. It was originally built to serve 700 students, but now has close to 1,200, according to teachers. If you’ve ever walked through the hallways, you are aware of the overcrowding and the difficulties of simply trying to get to where you need to go. The extra wing will help reduce the crowding levels because there will be more room throughout the school.
