FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) is an organization/club that focuses on the Family Consumer Sciences curriculum. This allows students to explore different life skills through opportunities that explore aspects of character development, critical thinking, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
The 2024-2025 chapter has significantly grown from previous years and with that, our community involvement is increasing as well.
National FCCLA week takes place during the second full week of February. This year it will go from February 10th to the 14th. Our FCCLA chapter will be participating in FCCLA-themed activities throughout the school week which students can join in on.
The 10th will be “Member Monday” where students can take a trip to the E wing and look at our member cards outside of Ms. Saenz’s classroom (E116). Posted on the FCCLA board will have a card containing a card for each member. On this, you can find a picture of the FCCLA members along with their names, grades, and reasons for joining FCCLA.
Wednesday the 12th is a PSAT/SAT day where 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will be testing. This aligns with FCCLA’s day of service. Mead’s FCCLA chapter spent time getting candy together at their previous meeting for testing classrooms which will be passed out on testing day as an omen of good luck.
As we have a four-day weekend, Thursday will be the last school day that week. This corresponds to FCCLA Spirit Day where everyone should wear red. If an individual participates by wearing any sort of red, stop by Ms. Saenz’s room (E116) to get a candy prize for supporting FCCLA this year.
