Over $1,400 raised in support of SVVSD free breakfast program through student’s online magic show

Through his online magic show “The Magic of Giving Back,” which aired on Wednesday April 29th, senior Alec Mueller has raised money to support the SVVSD free breakfast program

Alec Mueller (’20), a talented magician, used his skill to raise money for a good cause in our community.

During quarantine, many of us have turned to Netflix, reading, crafts, and exercise to try and keep our minds busy. But one Mead High senior, Alec Mueller (‘20), has used his affinity for magic and mentalism to raise money for the SVVSD free breakfast program through an online magic show titled, “The Magic of Giving Back.”

The SVVSD free breakfast program is continuing to provide meals for those that relied on school lunches to feed their children, allowing parents to pick up food at various SVVSD schools.

“I know that a lot of people rely on school lunches and especially now we need to come together,” said Mueller, cards in hand.

Mueller has been doing magic nearly his entire life, and created a free show to do online to give back during the COVID-19 outbreak to keep people connected. From family members to friends to complete strangers, he reached a huge audience and it paid off. Mueller performed his show through the online video call system Zoom on Wednesday, April 29, at 4:00 P.M.

At the time of writing, Mueller has raised over $1,400 and continues to bring in more and more donations as others share and read about his cause.

“I wanted to give back to the community that has given so much to me,” Mueller said, “I’ve grown up here and especially now people need something to bring a little joy, even if it’s only an hour.”
