Lucky (poem)

Ana Carrillo, Editor

I was in good luck to come across you

You were the warmest place I knew

Your arms gave me comfort

The thought of existence with you was vivid

I fail to recall those emotions for you, it appears I obstructed them

I’ve sought the adrenaline you created in others

I felt lucky to be the one your eyes were drawn to

Lucky to be the one whose hands you held

Lucky to be the one your lips desired

Lucky to be the one you thought of

You showered me with your devotion but now I’m left parched

Sometimes I crave you’d return and stay for longer

I’m stuck in the past, but I wrongly assumed this would last

I don’t miss you — I miss the idea of you
