Mead High School’s marching band performed at the SVVSD band night at Longmont High’s Everly-Montgomery Field Oct. 4th. Here, they showcased their halftime show, “Friday Night Fever” — this year’s show theme. They performed amongst nine other marching bands in SVVSD, including their Unified bands.
With full stands, the Unified bands kicked off this fun filled night.
The Mead High Unified program offers special needs students the opportunity to join sports . To ensure everyone’s included, the program allows modifications to what best suits players.
The band performed “Staying Alive”, “Time of My Life”, and “Footloose” with corresponding choreography from the dance team. Band Director Ms. Abigail Judy and Co-band Director Mr. Gideon Matchey’s preparation was stellar.
Alongside the band, the Color Guard performed dances matching the songs, including the choreographed “Footloose” dance, which helped to enhance the performance.
Drum Major Kyanne Johnston (’24) directed “Footloose”, Kensington Fairley (’24) directed “Staying Alive”, and Michael Reeder (’24) directed “Time of My Life”. They each worked together to conduct the show as they do each football game.
The crowd was dancing along with teachers and admin in the packed stands. Some of the football team even showed up in support of the band.
To wrap up all the incredible performances, all the bands gathered on the field and played “Sweet Caroline” to conclude the night.
