Jack Harlow’s newest single ‘Lovin’ On Me’ was an excellent way to end 2023

Released on Nov. 10, 2023, “Lovin’ On Me” heightened rapper Jack Harlow’s career immensely

After being teased on social media for weeks, American rapper Jack Harlow dropped his 34th single, “Lovin’ On Me” on Nov. 10, 2023.

Set in D Major and a relatively fast-paced song at 105 BPM, “Lovin’ On Me” has a steady beat that is easy to follow. Harlow first released the chorus on Tiktok on Oct. 23, gaining 14.6 million views and over 1 million likes. This helped push the trajectory of the song, letting fans know something big was coming, and encouraging them to keep an eye out for the release.

Unlike Harlow’s other lead songs off earlier albums, we hear his singing, as opposed to strictly rapping. This song features fun rhyme schemes and cold, easy-to-deliver bars. In verse two, Harlow makes trendy pop culture references, saying,

”Young M-I-S-S-I-O-N-A-R-Y

You sharp like barbed wire

She stole my heart, then she got archived

(to read more lyrics, click here — warning: they are explicit.)

Harlow uses clever lyrics in this track to interact with the listener, making the auditory experience much more enjoyable.

Not even 24 hours after announcing the song, many music critics had already started analyzing the track. Hershal Pandya from Vulture said, “Regrettably, the new Jack Harlow song is good.” Much like his other songs, Harlow sampled R&B singer Delbert “Dale” Greer’s, “Whatever (1995)” in his hook. By piecing together different melodies and lyrics from different songs, he allows his music to be more versatile, reaching people from all generations.

In a recent post to Instagram, Harlow captioned a photo of him flaunting his new mullet saying, “Thank u for allowing me to reset this year. I moved back to Kentucky and gave u an album I could not have made on the road. Surrounded by family & childhood friends this has been one of the happiest years of my life. But now… a new era begins.” Lovable Jack, is back at it again, thanking his fans for his success. What a guy.

Without fail, Harlow has provided ear worms after ear worm to get stuck in your head. This melody is no different. The repetitive, catchy, suave delivery comes so naturally to him, that you can’t help but love it.

The music video, directed by Aidan Cullen features vibrant, encapsulating colors and graphics that hit every beat. Visuals moving from Harlow with a puppy to him dancing with friends show his on-brand, charismatic personality that is such a quintessential part of his fame.

Producing such spit-fire sets comes naturally to Harlow, as all of his songs gain social media popularity almost instantly due to the fast-paced, bouncy beats.

This success comes as no surprise because music flows through him effortlessly.

Once again, Jack Harlow knocked it out of the park, making this song an assertive 10/10 from me.
