Ms. Madalyn Koenigeseker, known by her students as Ms. K, is in her second year of teaching. She is one of the science educators here at Mead High School, teaching Biology and Chemistry.
Ms. K was born in Colorado, and raised in Longmont. She attended Skyline High School up until her junior year and then transferred to Cherry Creek, where she graduated. She played volleyball all four years.
Ms. K went to Colorado State University and didn’t know that she wanted to be a teacher until her junior year of college. She originally went to school to be a nurse and became a nursing assistant, but soon realized that she didn’t want to continue that path. She enjoyed teaching others how to be caregivers.
“I come from a family of teachers and I knew that I wanted to teach eventually,” said Ms. K.
Ms. K is also the head C-team volleyball coach at Mead. This is her second year as a coach. Balancing being a coach and a teacher is not always easy.
“It’s a bunch of trial and error, a lot of late nights, and just using my weekends, you do what you gotta do [sometimes],” said Ms. K. “The girls and my coaching staff make it really easy, and it’s really easy to do when you enjoy it,” she added.
Some advice from Ms. K is to not think too hard about what other people are thinking. “I used to think way too much about other people in high school, and I’ll tell you now, I [only] talk to two people from high school. That’s usually how it goes for everybody,” said Ms. K.
Ms K. said her favorite part of teaching is being able to connect with her students, “I love socializing with [my students] and getting to know [them] on a personal level and not just [at] a student level.”
We are so grateful to have her here at Mead High School. We wish her and C team volleyball great success this year.
