On Saturday, March 28th, the Longmont Combined Winter Drumline performed at the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association (RMPA) State Championships Prelims and Finals.
Adding another Championship Trophy to make twelve for the group’s existance.
Their show this year is titled “Chairish Life”, using chairs as props to illustrate the natural progression of life; starting with a baby that advances through to toddlerhood, school, a 9-5, marriage, children, and eventually death.
Although most of the students haven’t experienced many of the “stories” and experiences told in the show, they are able to convey all the emotions perfectly, even making parents and judges cry.
Winter Drumline is not the average marching band show, as it consists of just drums and front ensemble. With very elaborate costumes and props, production for every show takes a lot of time.
Over the past six months, students from Erie High School, Mead High School, Altona Middle School, Longmont High School, and Silver Creek High School have been working tirelessly to make this show the best they ever have. Their effort has definitely been shown, as they started the season with a 74.9, and gained 14.3 points ending with a score of 89.2.
