Mead Journalism was a part of the Mead Parade of Lights.

The annual Mead Parade of Lights was Dec. 3, 2022 at 5:00 pm and was hosted at Mead Town Park. The parade began at the intersection of Palmer and 5th St. and proceeded south. There was no cost of entry or any participation fee.

This year the parade held 15 floats, all led by the Mead police. The order of parade went: Chief Newbanks, Mead High School Marching Band, Mead High Journalism, Santa, Mrs. Longmont and Ms. Firestone, Mead Cub Scout Pack 159, Country Kids Preschool, Kates K9 Grooming, Christy Dabney Family Insurance, Roof Source LLC, DNI HVAC, 4 Rivers, Davis Family Livestock, Mead PD, and MVFR- Engine.

The Parade of Lights this winter was busier than in years past. For the entirety of the parade, the energy from everyone was festive and happy.

Christmas in the Park was held on that same day, Dec. 3. This avent was also hosted at Mead Town Park.

There was a tree give-away through raffle tickets. Grandview Church also served hot chocolate. There was a playground and bouncy house as well.

In past years, Christmas in the Park had a makeshift ice skating rink. They also had a real life horse drawn carriage, Santa Claus, and other fun activities for kids.

This event is a time for families to come together in the communities, and has been held since 1964.
