Students plays their instruments at “Jazz & Dine” in September.

Mead High’s Advanced Jazz band will host the popular “Jazz & Dine” once again. This musical production was a great success last time it was hosted on Monday, Sept. 26. Advanced Jazz gathered a good amount of students to enjoy this concert during their lunch.

This second performance will be held in the downstairs commons near the main office during first lunch on Friday, March 3.

Performers were satisfied with the outcome from their last Jazz & Dine, and they know MHS students will be excited to see what tunes they have to offer this time.

Saxophone soloist Andrew Deba (’23) commented that the last performance “went really well”.

Jacob Morales (’26) added that the band will be doing Jazz & Dines whenever they can, and that he’s glad they put together another performance.

The band will perform a couple songs for students while they enjoy their lunch.

Advanced Jazz will play songs ranging across several genres. A member shared they will be performing one song in a Latin style of jazz called rumba flamenca, the well known “Livin’ La Vida Loca”, and an upbeat funk song.

This performance will include solos from musicians Andrew Deba (’23), Chase Caylor (’23), Ike Campbell (’24), Gabe Diaz (’23), and Jacob Morales (’26).

Jacob Morales (‘26) shared that he’s excited for his solo. He said, “My solo is a little shorter… but it’s still a lot of fun.”

Morales (‘26) encouraged students to attend this concert. “If you have first lunch, go to the commons, eat your lunch there, and have fun,” he said. If students have second lunch, they are of course welcome to listen briefly during passing period.
