Bryson Gajewski (‘24) plans on majoring in photography and video art and minoring in sports media. Bryson has not yet decided where he will be attending college; however, his top college is Christopher Newport University in Virginia, where he was offered to play hockey.

Bryson has been playing hockey since he was about five years old. Hockey has been his lifetime sport, and he would like to continue playing after high school.

Bryson said he joined hockey because of family: “My grandpa really liked [hockey].”

Though Bryson has played hockey through clubs for years, he joined Resurrection Christian High School‘s hockey program at the beginning of his junior year, where he later made varsity at the beginning of his senior year. He joined this team after a good friend, Ethan Thomas, recruited him to play.

Bryson said, “[hockey] kind of takes my mind off school and all that.”

Bryson has faced a few struggles throughout high school but has overcome them by having a good support system and communication with teachers so he can step up.

He said, “I’ve always hated school…from middle school [until] now.”

Bryson’s perspective on high school had shifted positively. He claimed to be on a low slope in high school but ended up climbing his way up.

“But definitely from freshman to sophomore and early junior year, I had low grades in classes because I didn’t want to do my schoolwork. I didn’t want to go to school. I’d be late and all that. Junior year is when I decided to flip the switch and come back.”

We are proud of Bryson’s growth in high school and hope for further success in life!
