The staff of The Mav would like to thank the veterans in their lives for their service. Our appreciation extends to those who have previously served and those currently enlisted.

Known originally as Armistice Day, the holiday honored the armistice enforced on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 to end World War I. In 1919, America dedicated Nov. 11 as a day to honor those who served in “the war to end all wars”, though Armistice Day evolved into Veteran’s Day in 1954 when other wars began to follow. The day now extends to all veterans who have served or are currently serving and commemorates their courage and sacrifices.
