Mother’s Day is an important holiday to celebrate because it’s a time to recognize everything moms do for us. They take care of us, support us, and are always there when we need them—even when we don’t realize it.
It’s a day to say thank you for all the love, hard work, and sacrifices they make every single day. Whether it’s with a card, flowers, or just spending time together, Mother’s Day is our chance to show how much we appreciate and love them. It’s not just about gifts, it’s about making moms feel special—they totally deserve it.
My best friend Cami McGilvray has been in my life for over two years and acts as a sister rather than just a friend. We’ve been through what feels like everything together—middle school, breakups, and friend groups.
One of the best parts about having Cami in my life is getting to know her mom: Stephanie McGilvray. Ms. McGilvray has played a huge role in shaping who I am today, and she treats me as though I’m a part of the family.
Ms. McGilvray has been such an important figure in my life because she’s been there for me like a second mom. Whether I was hanging out at her house, needing advice, or just looking for someone to talk to, she’s always made me feel welcome and cared for.
She listens to the many problems I have as a girl in high school, and does so without judging and giving a second opinion on what to do. Her kindness and unconditional support have made a big difference in my life, especially this year in school, and I’m really grateful for everything she’s done for me.
I feel so lucky to have a friend like Cami and a second mom like Ms. McGilvray in my life. Not everyone gets to have that kind of support outside their own family, and I realize I tend to take it for granted. Having people like them reminds me that family isn’t just about blood, it’s who shows up for you no matter what.
That kind of connection is really important to me, and I’m so grateful for it every day. Thank you Ms. McGilvray for all you’ve done for me, and happy Mother’s Day!
