Bob’s Burgers, created by Loren Bouchard and released in 2011, has a fun-loving family theme, while still holding the mature comedy that adult TV shows have. It centers around the restaurateur Bob Belcher and his family, which includes his wife Linda and their kids Louise, Gene, and Tina.
In comparison, the father to the Griffin Family in Family Guy, Peter Griffin spends his free time at a pub, rather than with his family. He often puts his wife and children down and refuses to take accountability for his actions, similar to the rest of the family. If I talked about the bad actions of the Griffins, this article would be a mile long.
Comparing Bob to Peter, he seems like a saint.
The episode “The Hauntening” follows Louise Belcher, the youngest of the three children, having a hard time finding haunted houses scary despite wanting to experience thrill.
Recognizing how much Louise wanted this, Bob and the family plan their own haunted house to scare Louise, and she is very appreciative.
The family recognized that Louise wasn’t having fun during the spooky season. They took in consideration her feelings and acted based on that. While Bob was the leader of the whole act, he still made sure his family was safe. Despite the heartwarming nature of this episode, there are still plenty of funny moments needed to create a comedic environment.
There are so many examples similar to “The Hauntening” with heartwarming family moments, but the writers make sure to balance the sentimental moments with funny scenes and weird jokes.
Bob’s Burgers is an amazing show, especially if you’re tired of the stereotypical dark humor that adult animations are hatched with.
