This year’s Wish Week is a little different than usual, and honors a special little boy named Cooper, who is facing Leukemia and wants nothing more than to go to Walt Disney World as his wish.
Cooper loves the Denver Broncos, playing Xbox with his friends, watching Marvel movies and spending time with his family. This year’s wish week color theme is blue, as that is Cooper’s favorite color. All of the proceeds from our Make-A-Wish Week go towards helping his wish come true.
Starting Monday February 9, the spirit days are as follows:
Monday: Crocs and Socks
Tuesday: Jersey Day
Wednesday: Comfy Day
Thursday: Shades of Blue
Due to our four day weekend, our wish week will be split up. Starting back up again on Tuesday, February 17, the spirit days continue as follows:
Tuesday: Beach Out
Wednesday: Make-A-Wish Shirts
This year’s wish week is not only different because of the four day weekend; it also includes several after school fundraising activities.
On Tuesday, February 17, there will be a volleyball tournament spanning from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with an entry fee of $2 per person and teams of six to ten. This entry fee is cash only, and will be accepted at the door. The QR code for sign up can be found on the StuCo Instagram page, and welcomes all who can participate.
In addition to this, there will also be fundraisers which occur during school hours for the entirety of Wish Week. These include a rock paper scissors school competition, with an entry fee of $1, and a superhero scavenger hunt with a $2 buy-in at lunch, ending on February 17.
For the rock paper scissors competition, students will buy in at lunch, and receive a beaded necklace. Students wearing the necklaces will play rock paper scissors against students who have also bought in, and the winner of each round will take the loser’s necklace in addition to their own. The participants with the most wins will compete at the assembly, and the winner will receive a pair of Beats headphones.
For the scavenger hunt, participants must find the superhero mini figure hidden in the school in order to win a prize. Multiple figures will be hidden, and the prizes include one free prom ticket, airpods, three tardies excused, or a free homecoming ticket. The rules for this challenge can also be found on the StuCo instagram page, and a hint towards one figure’s secret location will be shared during morning announcements and posted on the all-grade Schoology page.
Make-A-Wish shirts will be sold February 9, 10, 12, and 17 during both lunches. They cost $15, and are available while supplies last, as shirt sizes sell out quickly.
Help Student Council and MHS raise money for Cooper during this year’s Make-A-Wish week so that we can make his wish come true!
