I may not have gone on my own “church search” of what I wanted to believe in when I started having questions about religion. Instead, I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints. I have had my doubts, and I have looked for answers. I always end up finding them, no matter how I look for them.
I have gone about looking for answers in many different ways. I have prayed, read the scriptures, researched through divinely appointed sources, and looked to leaders. I never am able to gain a perfect understanding of the doctrine or issue I’m attempting to figure out, but it’s better to have a partial understanding than no understanding at all.
While there are a few different books of scripture my religion uses, the Book of Mormon is my rock that can’t be moved. I have gone to the top of the mountain with my leaders to pray for it, the Book of Mormon is true. I didn’t get my answer right away. I rarely do, but as I re-read it that summer that I prayed on the mountain, I had the calm feeling that brings me closer to Christ and my Heavenly Father.
My faith has been improving throughout the years. I’ve had my downs, but it always bounces back. My faith can’t move a mountain yet. It may take a lifetime to move the mountains, but I do have the faith that if it is my Heavenly Fathers will it will happen.
I’ve had different challenges in my life; whether it be with school or just the problems of an everyday teenager. There are many mountains I still haven’t been able to move, but a select few I have. I give credit to my faith. The challenges are there to make us better. If my life was just rolling hills, my testimony would never be where it is today.
Through my faith, I have been able to surround myself with a community that is unlike any other. I have constant support from leaders and friends. While I have had my doubts, for all the right reasons, I find a reason to grow my faith and testimony. Even though there are many good things that come with my religion and my community, the center of all is my faith in Jesus Christ and how he has improved my life day to day.
