On December 5, 2025, the sequel to the box office hit Five Night At Freddy’s came to theaters. The movies are based off of a 2010s game franchise with the same title, and became popular after popular YouTuber Markiplier played the game.
Although it has been stated that the movies are not completely accurate to the game lore, it is still disappointing when inconsistencies come up. Multiple times while watching I found myself saying, “Ummm, this isn’t how that works.”
The main plot point of this movie is the Puppet, which was first shown in the second game. This animatronic was created to protect one of the creators’ daughters, Charlotte (Charlie) Emily. Though, in the game, Charlie gets pushed outside by other children and murdered by her father’s business partner, and the Puppet cannot protect her. Without getting into the lore of Remnant, Charlie’s soul ends up possessing the Puppet. In the movie, this is slightly different, but doesn’t change the plot.
The whole film is centered around the Puppet controlling the other animatronics from the first location, which is lore accurate, but in the movies, the puppet can now possess people. The way people look after they are possessed looks super cheesy, and the actual animatronic is scarier. Another huge change is that the Puppet is now an evil being, even though in the game she just wants to protect other children.
These two aspects upset me the most because it completely changes the entire personality and goals of the character, who is also a big part of the entire plot line.
I am excited to see what Blum House does for the next movie, especially because there were a lot of people who were upset over the same things that I was. The movie was fun to watch, but the actual content was disappointing. I would recommend the movie if you want to be jumpscared a few times, but you don’t have to know the lore.
