Addison (Addi) Blick (‘26) is so thrilled to play soccer in college, meet her new team, and be off on her own to be able to grow and become the best person she can be.
Addi is going to Western Colorado University (WCU) to do a five year program. The first three years of schooling to get her bachelor’s in biology, and then two more years to get her master’s in ecology. With her degree, she plans to get a career in wildlife research and majors similar to that. Addi stated, “I would like to work in national parks, or something like that, and track population trends.” Blick made the decision to go to Western with the help of an amazing soccer scholarship offered by the school. Not only will she be getting her degree, but she will also be a goal keeper this coming year for WCU.
Addi is a major team player (no pun intended), not just on and off the field. She loves to be a friend to all of her teammates and is hoping to find her new community within the people she plays soccer with. “I’m super excited to have a family through the team and meeting a whole bunch of new people.” She is such a social butterfly, and being able to finally spread her wings to be able to explore and create her own circle of friends from scratch can be such a life changing thing to experience. Addi is as ready as she will ever be to open her wings and let the wind of new community and friends change her path.
Addi takes so much pride in all the things shes been able to accomplish throughout her high school years. She is involved in so much, and she has more than just one major achievements she can brag about. Addi has been accepted into the St. Vrain District Honor Choir three times, she’s been accepted into Colorado All State Choir twice, and helped her soccer team make it to be League Champions in 2025. All this while staying in school and keeping excellent grades to be eligible for all her activities.
“I’ve worked really hard to excel in my grades as well… and I’m just happy that its paid off, and I have stuff to show for it.”
Many teacher’s have changed Addi’s life, but only a few made impacts that truly stuck with her. She would like to recognize, first, Mr. Elliot for being such a helping hand with her scholarships and her academics through the years. Then, Ms. Berry for always being a big emotional support for her whenever she needed it and for always being there for her. And finally, Mr. White for helping her find and realize her passion for science and the ecosystems of the world. He really made her life change by showing her a new realm of science that she never would have thought to look into if it werent for him nudging her along.
So as her four years of high school come to a close, Addi has some advice for baby freshman who are looking for words of encouragement.
Be yourself. Pretending to be someone else everyday is so hard that, eventually, it will find you, and you will end up forgetting the real you. “In the moment, you’re like, oh yeah, this is fine—I can pretend—but you can’t. It’ll catch up to you, and you’ll be unhappy with your decisions, and you’ll make decisions for that fake version of you and not who you actually are.”
