Can I get light ICE in that please?
Enough ICE to feel safe in my own country,
but not enough to fear for my brown life,
Enough to keep criminals off the street,
but not enough to rip families apart,
Sending them to countries they haven’t been in since they were born,
Can I get light ICE in that please?
ICE that doesn’t use police brutality to force a father to beg for his life in front of his kids,
ICE that doesn’t arrest U.S citizens for just having brown skin or an accent,
ICE that looks for specific people and makes the correct judgment,
not just unloading their clip on the first immigrant they see
I like ICE,
but the soft kind,
The kind that isn’t a street level task force that kills innocent people,
The kind that uses the justice system the way it’s meant to be used,
The kind that protects its country’s citizens, brown or not.

Brissa!! This is so well crafted I love the metaphor of edible ice. It works so well in describing the valid feeling against ice. You’re such a good writer <3!
