Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a yearly tech convention where companies unveil their products for the future to tech enthusiasts and influencers. From robot vacuums that can climb stairs to biodegradable batteries, CES 2026 was filled with new tech innovations. Some big/well-known participating companies are LG, Samsung, Sony, NVIDIA, Mercedes-Benz, Roborock, Lego, and JBL. These companies spend thousands of dollars making the most mind-blowing booths at the event.
One of the New York Times’ top products is the Roborock, a robot vacuum with a leg and an arm. It offers increased mobility with the option to move between floors with stairs. In addition, it can clean each step individually.
One surprising addition to CES this year was an innovation from LEGO. They unveiled their “Smart Play” system, a new type of LEGO brick containing sensors. This allows the play to become more interactive with distance sensing, color changing, and orientation response. This new technology was a crowd favorite, especially considering LEGO’s past lack of innovation/new releases.
Another mind-blowing innovation was a GE Profile Smart refrigerator. It wasn’t flashy on the outside, but the tech inside the fridge was nothing to scoff at. One ability of the fridge was cameras that can identify and show you what is getting old in your fridge. It also features a barcode scanner that allows you to scan any product and add it to your grocery list.
One controversial piece of tech was a sensor to scan your urine. From the company Vivoo, it sits inside your toilet bowl and is designed to collect a small sample of your urine to analyze and deliver hydration information. This adds to the controversy of data collected by companies, especially in such a private place.
To end with a groundbreaking piece of tech, the Flint “paper” batteries. If the company’s claims are true, this is a biodegradable battery made with water and cellulose, compared to rare minerals like lithium or cobalt. This makes the explosion risk much lower and would make electric vehicles much cleaner and environmentally friendly.
This CES was jam-packed with new and unbelievable tech, but it gets crazier every year. CES 2027 will definitely have some cool tech to unveil.
