The arrival of fall comes the arrival of hiking season

As October comes around, it’s time to think about how you’ll get outside

Beginning at Forest Trail 839 Trail Head, the Big Meadows Loop trail is 1.5 miles long and circles the lake

The leaves are changing and the weather is getting more bitter and chilly, so it’s the perfect time of year to go outside and experience the gorgeous colors and the fresh smell of mountain air.

The state of Colorado has 58 peaks, these peaks rise above 14,000 feet and over 40 state parks with hundreds of miles of different trails, which means are many breathtaking hiking trails in the state of Colorado that are worth experiencing.

Lake Haiyaha, one of the first amazing hiking trails, is a moderate hike with beautiful views. It’s about four miles long with an elevation of 846 ft. This hiking trail is in Estes Park, Colorado. Haiyaha is a Native American word that means “rock” or “lake of many rocks” depending on the translation. This beautiful lake is surrounded by rocks and trees making an incredible view for hikers as they walk the trail.

Wonderland Lake Loop is another spectacular trail. This trail is around a mile and a half long, making it a short but enjoyable hike. Wonderland Lake is huddled between neighborhoods and parklands in the foothills of north Boulder. Keep an eye out for paragliders as they often use this lake as a take off point. This trail is also dog friendly, so your dog is able to tag along on your exciting adventures.

Rattlesnake Gulch is an intermediate hike that is about three and a half miles long. This trail allows dogs on leashes, so you will see a variety of bikers, hikers, and runners with their tail wagging counter-parts. This trail is just around 20 minutes from south Boulder, which has some of the most iconic views of the canyon. You’ll also pass the remnants of the historic Crags Hotel, which was built in 1908 but burned down in 1913. Altogether, it’s a beautiful trail.

These are just a few of the amazing trails that Colorado has to offer. Now is the perfect time of year to get outside and see the changing colors while on a stunning hike in the mountains of Colorado, so get out there and don’t miss out!

I absolutely love this article Abby, and I love how you talk about dog friendly places as well: we should go together.
