Hailey Netherton (‘25) is graduating this May and is excited to close this chapter of her life and open a new one.
Hailey plans on going to Ole Miss, located in Oxford, Mississippi, which is known for its rolling hills and “college town” attributes. She will be studying either criminal psychology or forensic science, looking to follow the path of interacting with the legal system.
Like many others, Hailey is excited to have a fresh start after graduation and be in a new environment. She says, “I’m excited for a new experience, more independence, and to make new friends, but I’m nervous to move away from everything and everyone I know.”
In her time in high school, Hailey has learned that failure and mistakes are part of growth, but in order to grow, you must acknowledge what you need to change. She is most proud of her own personal growth over her high school career and can credit mistakes and failures for her success.
Finding good friends to make memories with has been the highlight of the past couple of years for Hailey.
She credits her parents for being her biggest mentors and always supporting her.
“They got me through all of my ups and downs, and I look up to them more than anyone else.”
Hailey wants incoming freshmen to see the importance of high school, no matter what grade they’re in. She says, “Focus on school because when you become a senior and start applying for colleges, you’ll regret not trying.”
If Hailey were able to advise her freshman self, she would encourage leadership and not trying to be a follower, and to make connections outside of the few people you already know.
We wish Hailey so much good luck at Ole Miss and can’t wait to see what she’ll accomplish. Hoddy Toddy!
