Ms. Tangora has been working at Mead High School as a math teacher for six years.
She decided to teach at Mead High School because of the positive environment and the proximity to her family. She teaches 9th, 11th, and 12th grade.
“What I like about teaching the 9th graders is that some of them are actually excited to be in school. It’s cool to be able to watch them grow from a little freshman later on.”
A former student of Ms. Tangora’s, Mackayla Leskinski (‘28) states:
”I feel like she’s a very interactive teacher, and she cares about all the students and their different ways of learning, as well as trying to include them in her teaching. I think that’s very unique and hard to find [in a teacher].”
Though teaching matters quite a lot to Ms. Tangora, it is very evident that keeping bonds with her students and being there for them is heavily valued as well.
”[I like it when students] actually talk to me about things other than school. I enjoy that”
As a student who previously had Ms. Tangora, I personally have seen and experienced her classes. She respects all students and their individuality. She offers help when you need it, but also knows when you can do something to the best of your ability on your own.
At the end of the day, what makes Ms. Tangora different from other teachers is not just her skill in teaching and inclusion, but her dedication to being a safe space for students to go to, no matter the situation. For many, she is more than just a teacher. She’s a motivator and a reminder that there are still good people out there who are always willing to help.
