Mr. Wittrock is one of the new teachers at Mead High School. He is now entering his 17th year of teaching, as he has taught and coached at Niwot High School prior to coming to Mead.
After graduating from San Diego State, Mr. Wittrock moved to Colorado after living in California his entire life. He moved with his wife, whom he met in high school. Ms. Wittrock is the assistant principal at Skyline High School, and has been in this role for eight years, as well as an administrator.
Mr. Wittrock coaches the boys’ JV basketball team, and has been a coach for as long as he’s been a teacher. He teaches freshmen, juniors, and seniors as an English teacher.
He revealed his passion for teaching, “teaching was always my first love and passion,” and added how excited he is to have been able to move out of his first job in business to become a teacher and coach.
Collecting all kinds of Nike shoes is a hobby of Mr. Wittrock, as he calls himself a “sneakerhead,” as well as playing instruments. Since he was 13-years-old, he has been playing music. He says his love of music is what truly got him interested in playing the guitar. “I found I could kind of play, so I just [have] always enjoyed taking what I was capable of doing and using it.”
He says he doesn’t have a favorite genre of music and listens to a range of it, but generally sticks to playing bluegrass. Bluegrass is a form of old-style country folk music that combines elements of old-time mountain music, blues, and jazz.
One word Mr. Wittrock uses to describe himself is optimistic. He takes the attitude of “we can do it, we can always find a way to persevere.” He believes in seeing the positive and believing in the good in everything. His attitude towards life makes him the amazing coach and teacher he is.
Mead is excited to welcome Mr. Wittrock to his new role at the school!
