Welcomed by all of the students at Mead High School, Ms. Boehm is starting her 22nd year of teaching strong as an English educator. She teaches AP Seminar, English 11, and English Honors 9.
She remarks that all of her classes are so unique from each other. “The freshmen have so much energy,” she says, “and AP seminar is just such a cool challenge, because [students] are going to have incredible, real-world skills.” She also adds that English 11 is reading a lot of pieces that have been fun so far.
Before teaching at Mead, Boehm taught at Mountain Range High School in Westminster and Steele Canyon High School in San Diego. She also coached tennis whilst in San Diego.
Boehm went to Northern Arizona University (NAU), where she did her undergrad. She double majored at NAU in Spanish education and English education. She then got her Master’s in Educational Psychology.
Before going to NAU, she got her Master’s at CU Boulder, which is why she moved to Colorado. She also pointed out that the mountains played a big role.
She also notes, she is, in fact, certified to teach Spanish. “I used to speak Spanish fluently. I love language and I love culture, so if I [didn’t] teach English, I [would] teach Spanish.”
Boehm makes it a point to acknowledge how she had many English teachers throughout her high school career who were an inspiration. “My AP English teachers in 11th and 12th grade were an inspiration.” She also added later on how she “had wanted to be a teacher since [she] was in third grade.”
Outside of school, Boehm says she loves to go to the mountains to hike and camp with her family. She also has a six-year-old son Isaac who loves doing arts & crafts, as well as soccer, and American Ninja Warrior courses.
“I’m super grateful for the opportunity to be at Mead, and I’m grateful for all of my students who have given me so much grace. You guys have been so gracious.”
