With the World Cup coming up in two months, there has been much controversy and opinions spreading around. Every four years, teams from around the entire world come together and play soccer (or as everyone else says, futbol). After years and years of my life spent from watching soccer matches, I have curated my predictions for the 2026 World Cup.
Starting off with the group stages, the champions of group A will be Mexico.
Mexico has always been immersed in traditional soccer culture. Overall, they have the best skill in the group and they have very passionate fans will help them keep their energy high, and honestly, get in the opposing teams head.
Switzerland will take the crown for group B. Canada will be a close second but with their star player Alphonso Davies currently recovering from an ACL injury, he might not return to his prior talent.
Group C is obviously a group Brazil will win, but Morocco is a tough competition. Especially with Neymar n0t playing.
Group D, with the one and only United States of America, I do believe that they will win the group stage. They play Australia as the first game, and with key players like Christian Pulisic and Antonee Robinson, USA should not only secure the win against Australia, but also take first in their bracket. USA will lose in rounds of 16.
Group E is hard to predict because Germany used to be so great, but the last two world cups they’ve had was a very poor performance. Therefore, the game with Ecuador will highlight that and take number one.
Belgium will play when group G and group H’s winner beats Spain.
Group I will be overtaken by France. Group J will be won by Argentina but I don’t know how much farther they’ll realistically go.
Most everyone knows that Argentina is Messi’s team. But that’s the problem. Argentina is an incredibly powerful team, but if Messi’s creativity starts to slack so does the rest of the team.
Group K will be won by Portugal. And lastly Group L will be won by, my personal favorite, England.
Moving onto the Semi Finals, the four lasting teams will be France, England, Argentina, and Spain. France has always had a far run in the World Cup, but chokes up in the end. In 2022, France lost in the finals on penalties.
So the final game will be Spain vs. England. They both have many talented players, and a variety of skill strategy. It will be a close game, and Spain will come up on top and win the World Cup.
