Trailing 2-0 after the first inning, the Mavericks responded with a six-run in third inning that put them in front for good.
Ethan Elmore (‘27) pitched seven innings with ten strikeouts, and recorded an RBI double. “When things get bad I’m just grateful for the moments that I get to be up there,” Elmore states.
The Mavericks rally in the third inning included four hits and two errors. Aiden Lemmon (‘28), Cameron Wiley (‘29), and Beckham Ray (‘27) all recorded run batted in (RBI) doubles. Ryan St. Aubin (‘26) added an RBI single to the mix.
Frederick used four different pitchers, but the Mavericks were up to the challenge. The Mavericks scored at least two runs on three of the four pitchers.
Elmore allowed four runs on nine hits, but his confidence is back after an injury ended his football season.
“It was a tough time. It was probably the hardest moment of my life, but it taught me how to be grateful for the little things. That’s honestly what kept me going.”
After his 104 pitch outing, Elmore points to sleep and nutrition as the major components of his recovery.
The Mavericks are now 15-4 against Frederick, all time.
