Volleyball starters for Mead celebrate.

Ending in third place in their division last season, the MHS volleyball team concluded with an impressive feat. Excited for the chance to do even better, players have been gearing up to strive for even more greatness this season.

“I believe there is always room for improvement. We’ve been working hard all summer to achieve our goals and reach our highest potential this season.” Said Head Coach Mikayla Martinez. With the hard work the team put in during their offseason, there is no doubt the hard work will pay off.

“Lots to work on, but the work ethic will get us to where we need to be,” said Coach Martinez. “I feel prepared. We have athletes in our gyms working hard and leaving it all on the court. That alone will set us up for success this season.”

Dedication to the sport will leave the volleyball team in a prime position to win their division and possibly state. The team will continue to strive towards success in competition this season and hopefully win a state title. Coach Martinez additionally hopes the team will continue to work on bonding with each other.

“I think the biggest focus this year is team culture and unity,” said Coach Martinez. “We’ve been doing a lot of work on this throughout the summer, and I think it’s going to bring our program together and make us even stronger this year.”

Hopes for this season are high amongst the team and MHS community, and if the Mead High School volleyball team can continue to be successful in uniting and developing team culture, then this year’s girl’s volleyball team will be an unstoppable force. Be sure to check out some MHS volleyball home games and cheer on your fellow Mead Mavericks.
