Ethan Turner (’24), a senior on Mead High School men’s golf team, made program history: he drained a hole in one.

This once in a lifetime event is regarded as one of the most difficult achievements in all of sports and was accomplished by this talented athlete. While the Professional Golf Association states that “the odds of the average golfer making a hole-in-one are 12,500 to 1″, Turner’s extraordinary feat has proven that he is no average golfer.

This is a huge event for Ethan and all of Mead High School’s golf program. In an interview, we were able to capture Ethan’s mindset before shooting the shot of a lifetime. “[I was aiming] to hit the green and two putt. [I was trying] to get out with a par.”

His goals were low, but his achievements were through the roof.

Ethan Turner was not expecting to accomplish one of golf’s biggest achievements, though with his skill and a little bit of luck, he was able to pull it off. This moment of MHS golf history occurred at Indian Peaks Golf Course’s 14th hole, a 125 yard, par 3.

“Thinking back, it’s pretty shocking that I hit it,” said Turner. “I’ve never been able to control my distance in golf, so it was a unique experience.”

No matter what happens later in this golf season, his shot will forever be etched in Mead High School’s sport history.

A hole. In one. Outstanding really shows how rewarding hard work and practicing can be.
